ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Sun Tzu: Art of Business (Malay Edition)

People who enjoy reading books on strategy certainly know "Art Of War" written by Sun Tzu. This book rewrite the original content with the new title "Art Of Business". This is the first attraction. The second attraction was the presentation of the case study (Case Study). I think it's a good narrative: how the business success stories serves as an example to the reader. The third attraction is the cartoon inserted in each story. At first I thought this book would make my son interested in reading it. However, he seemed less than appreciative. Perhaps it is difficult to draw cartoons related to the case study in a small space.

Panduan Menulis Novel: Teknik Surah Yusuf

Penulis: Ainon Mohd

Harga: RM 21.50 / RM 24.50 ISBN-13: 978-967-369-102-9 Tarikh Terbit: 22 Apr 2011 Jumlah Muka Surat :

Kategori: Penulisan

Penerbit: PTS Professional Publishing Sdn Bhd

Komen saya:

Joseph Bennette, "A Course in Light-Speed Reading: A Return to Natural Intuitive Reading"

Joseph Bennette, "A Course in Light-Speed Reading: A Return to Natural Intuitive Reading"
Cr..teSpace | 2001 | ISBN: 0963150694, 1434835901 | 107 pages | PDF | 1,2 MB

About speed reading - Wake Forest research indicates that slow reading speeds contribute to dropout and teen suicide rates. Just one summer with A Course in Light-Speed Reading can turn a slow teen reader into a super reader and student. What would you do if you could speed read? Would you complete that degree program you've been working on? Would you read that big 500 page novel you've wanted to read? Would you finally catch up on all those magazines you've wanted to read? Would you enjoy some more free time to do what you want to do? Have you ever felt like you were sub-par or just not good enough because you couldn't read very well? Or maybe you felt like you could read, but not as fast as you would like? Just imagine what you would do if you could read three to 100 times faster than you do now. Learn how to get your brain in "the zone" at will. Once in the zone, there is no upper limit on how fast you can read just as there is no upper limit on how fast you can think.

Austin J. It acknowledged the cynicism, pain, and fear they faced in implementing large-scale change-but also armed them with an eight-step plan of action for leaping boldly forward in a turbulent world.

Now, Kotter and coauthor Dan S. Cohen delve deeper into the subject of change to get to the heart of how change actually happens. Through compelling, real-life stories from people in the trenches, in all kinds of organizations, the authors attack the fundamental problem that underlies every major transformation: How do you go beyond simply getting your message across to truly changing people's behavior?

Based on interviews within over 100 organizations in the midst of large-scale change, The Heart of Change delivers the simple yet provocative answer to this question, forever altering the way organizations and individuals approach change. While most companies believe change happens by making people think differently, Kotter and Cohen say the key lies in making them feel differently. They introduce a new dynamic-"see-feel-change"-that fuels action by showing people potent reasons for change that spark their emotions.

Organized around the revolutionary eight-step change process introduced in Leading Change, this story-driven book shows how the best change leaders use not just reports or analysis, but gloves, video cameras, airplanes, office design, and other concrete elements to impel people toward positive action. The authors reveal how this appeal to the heart-over the mind-motivates people to overcome even daunting obstacles to change and produce breathtaking results.

For individuals in every walk of life and companies in every stage of change, this compact, no-nonsense book captures the heart-and the how-of successful change.

The Heart of Change is the follow-up to John Kotter's enormously popular book Leading Change, in which he outlines a framework for implementing change that sidesteps many of the pitfalls common to organizations looking to turn themselves around. The essence of Kotter's message is this: the reason so many change initiatives fail is that they rely too much on "data gathering, analysis, report writing, and presentations" instead of a more creative approach aimed at grabbing the "feelings that motivate useful action." In The Heart of Change, Kotter, with the help of Dan Cohen, a partner at Deloitte Consulting, shows how his eight-step approach has worked at over 100 organizations. In just about every case, change happened because the players were led to "see" and "feel" the change. In one example, a sales representative underscores a sense of urgency to change a manufacturing process by showing a videotaped interview with an unhappy customer; in another, a purchasing manager makes his point to senior management about corporate waste by displaying on the company's boardroom table the 424 different kinds of gloves that the company had procured through different vendors at vastly different prices. Well written and loaded with real-life examples and practical advice, The Heart of Change towers over other change-management titles. Managers and employees at organizations both big and small will find much to draw from. Highly recommended. --Harry C. The rapid pace of change demands fast and flexible responses throughout the organization—there’s no time to wait for directives from the top. And the highly-skilled workers so vital to organizational success also demand a high degree of independence. Old-fashioned command-and-control leadership is just too slow and stifling.

Charles Manz and Henry Sims, Jr. pioneered the concept self-leadership in their bestselling book SuperLeadership. In The New SuperLeadership, the authors present new content and examples designed to help leaders develop the kind of autonomous, quick-reacting workforce necessary to thrive in these turbulent times. This enriched and expanded edition takes the concepts in the first edition to another level by emphasizing a pragmatic, how-to approach for developing leaders at every level of the organization.

Drawing on contemporary examples and profiles, many from the high-tech and information sectors, Manz and Sims shatter the myth of the traditional, aggrandized versions of "heroic" leadership. They show that a leader truly becomes successful by turning followers into extraordinary self-leaders—pillars of strength that will support the organization at every level. They detail a series of action-oriented steps through which the SuperLeader provides an opportunity for followers to express and develop their own leadership skills—and in the process become highly motivated, dynamic contributors.

The New SuperLeadership critically reviews traditional leadership styles, vividly illustrating the drawbacks of each: the "Strong Man" whose reliance on fear-based compliance smothers initiative; the "Transactor" who promotes a narrow "what’s in it for me?" mentality; and the "Visionary Hero" whose powerful personality inspires commitment but inadvertently discourages independent thinking. By bringing out the leader in every employee, SuperLeadership enables leaders to avoid these pitfalls and develop an enthusiastic, innovative and energized workforce.

The New SuperLeadership is a radically new way of looking at leadership, offering a leadership paradigm ideally suited to the realities of the modern workplace. Whitney and Trosten-Bloom use examples from many different types of organizations to illustrate Appreciative Inquiry (AI) in action. A how-to book but not a manual, The Power of Appreciative Inquiry describes the newest ideas and practices in the field of Appreciative Inquiry since its inception in 1985. In updating the second edition, the authors conducted an appreciative inquiry with first edition readers, focusing especially on users in markets and universities. At the urging of these readers, the authors have included a new chapter on the community applications of Appreciative Inquiry, as well as a host of new examples and other enhancements.

Ian Stewart, "Professor Stewart's Cabinet of Mathematical Curiosities"

Ian Stewart, "Professor Stewart's Cabinet of Mathematical Curiosities"
B.sic Books | 2009 | ISBN: 0465013023 | 320 pages | PDF | 3 MB

Knowing that the most exciting math is not taught in school, Professor Ian Stewart has spent years filling his cabinet with intriguing mathematical games, puzzles, stories, and factoids intended for the adventurous mind. This book reveals the most exhilarating oddities from Professor Stewart’s legendary cabinet.
Inside, you will find hidden gems of logic, geometry, and probability—like how to extract a cherry from a cocktail glass (harder than you think), a pop-up dodecahedron, and the real reason why you can’t divide anything by zero. Scattered among these are keys to Fermat’s last theorem, the Poincare conjecture, chaos theory, and the P=NP problem (you’ll win a million dollars if you solve it). You never know what enigmas you’ll find in the Stewart cabinet, but they’re sure to be clever, mind-expanding, and delightfully fun.

Larry Dressler, Roger Schwarz, "Standing in the Fire: Leading High-Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage"

Larry Dressler, Roger Schwarz, "Standing in the Fire: Leading High-Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage"
Berr ett-Ko ehler Pub lishers | 2010 | ISBN: 1576759709 | 192 pages | PDF | 1,1 MB

Many experienced facilitators, OD consultants, coaches, and organizational leaders increasingly find themselves “standing in the fire” -- working in situations where group and community members are polarized, angry, fearful, and confused. Facilitator Larry Dressler has come to believe that simply picking up yet another method or technique won’t help in situations like these. What has a truly transformational impact is what he calls the facilitator’s presence. Cultivating an ability to access a compassionate presence that people experience as open, authentic, and clear in intention during the most difficult situations moves facilitators from being competent professionals to being on a path toward self-mastery.

Standing in the Fire offers a set of self-directed principles and practices that enable facilitators to work on themselves—to keep their emotional balance no matter how overheated things threaten to become. It brings together profound teachings from diverse fields, including western psychology, eastern spiritual practices, the arts, social sciences and medical research. Dressler’s grounded, empathetic approach helps readers reawaken and discover an untapped capacity that comes from within and is expressed as a powerful presence standing in service to a group.

Vlad Vaiman, "Talent Management of Knowledge Workers: Embracing the Non-Traditional Workforce"

Vlad Vaiman, "Talent Management of Knowledge Workers: Embracing the Non-Traditional Workforce"
Pal Ma | 2010 | ISBN: 0230242871 | 304 pages | epub | 2,2 MB

Freelancers possess a tremendous amount of knowledge, skill, and ability.

Tun Dr Mahathir juga mengemukakan teori "survival of the fittest".
